Razor was raised by wolves, and so has habits that resemble that of canines, like howling and growling. He can also summon a jacked purple furry to fight alongside him in battle. |
Oh, Razor, my darling boy Razor... how do I vocalise how much I care about you, sweet darling child...
So, before I started playing Genshin, I went on the wiki to look at the characters to see who I liked best, and Razor was one of the two I chose. I liked his vibe, I liked how he just hung out in the woods and didn't talk to people and had a wolf family. I got super lucky and pulled him two days after I started playing and it took me almost two years to get his C6 because I only ever pulled him one additional time, and had to rely on the shop to get the rest of his constellations. I'm now hyperinvesting in him because that's the kind of person I've become.
Looking at all my documents I've definitely built up a version of him that isn't quite accurate to canon but is also more fun so who cares. He's short, he bites people sometimes and stares at people with his giant beautiful red eyes. Bennett force feeds him citrus fruit three times a week and also he's autistic. He contains multitudes. Anyway here's a bullet point list of every headcanon I have with him followed by every AU version of him I have in my backlog.
- He loves fireworks but his hearing is too sensitive for them, so Bennett or Rosaria will cover his ears while they watch them
- He has wet dog smell
- He has a weird accent because his first words were taught to him by Andrius, who's like a billion years old, and has a deeply outdated way of speaking.
- Obviously he sees Lisa as a mother figure but that extends to Jean too which is awkward for her because she hardly knows this kid. They'd be good together though.
- Hair is almost constantly tangled but he refuses to cut it short.
Modern AU
I tried to remake this AU because it got too dark and then it just kinda... stayed dark. Whoops.
Razor is the adopted child of Varka, and adoptive brother to Rosaria. It used to be that he lived in a drug den, where his parents abandoned him. He didn't have stable adult figures in his life, with people coming in and out of the same location, with him as its only constant. He had to teach himself a lot, and the skills he did learn from others were somewhat skewed by the desperation in the backdrop. He used the same bathtub people overdosed in to wash his clothes.
Lisa was his social worker, and was his primary caretaker for almost a year after he was rescued. Her gentle nature got him to open up fairly quickly, and she guided him through breaking a lot of his bad habits he developed from living in such a dire situation, though even in the present day, the shadow of his early life continues to cast on his behaviour. For example:
- He eats food very quickly, but fawns over it easily. He wasn't usually fed and had to take whatever was there. He'd frequently get scolded if he was caught taking food and so panics if someone seems upset with him while he's eating.
- He's a light sleeper. It was rarely safe where he lived, so even while he was asleep, he had to be prepared for anything. When he's sleeping on his own, he wakes up frequently, though over time the frequency has gone down. The only time this doesn't apply is when he's around someone he's close with, in which case, he feels safe enough to go into a deep sleep.
- He has difficulty keeping himself clean because he never had that kind of routine instilled in him, rather he had to take opportunities when the house was quiet/empty. Showering, cleaning teeth and brushing hair was a rarity, and he didn't come out of that fully intact.
- What's sweet, though, is that now he's in a comfortable environment, he likes having his hair silvery and long. Fischl loves to brush and style it, and he loves having it brushed and styled.
- School is a huge struggle for him, and the smallest things can get really overwhelming for him. While this is an issue that has mitigated with time, he often leaves early or skips classes, which his teachers aren't the biggest fans of, but what are they gonna do about it?!
To strangers, Razor tells people he was raised by wolves to explain his odd behaviour and mannerisms, and insists on it quite aggressively when they express disbelief. In actuality, he's referring to a little blue wolf plush that he carries with him everywhere, and has done since before he could remember. When Lisa was first working with him, the earliest display of trust he showed was letting her clean the very mangled toy he refused to let go of. Only a few people are allowed to touch it, and he gets very angry at people who try to take it from him.
